When I was growing up, my grandfather had a rose garden in his front yard. He would invite us over, and ask us to pick one out to take home. At 5 years old, those roses felt like a magical forest towering over the top of my head. I would carefully peruse and select the best rose I could find. He would cut the stem, and the thorns from the stem, and I would take it home with me.
This is my earliest happy memory. I still have one of those original rose bushes at my aunt's house, and i hope to have a full rose garden when I get older just to relive that magical moment.
