"Love One Another"
"Love one another" was the username and frequent caption for my father's social media platform for most of my life. He also frequently walked the picket fence, using God's name to justify signs like "Beware Queer," and drove 14 hours to protest the legalization of Gay Marriage outside the White House in 2015.
Today I reclaim the word he, and so many more people, call "love" which felt more like authoritative coercion. Love holds you, includes you, and accepts you. Anything else is repackaged oppression.
